10 best pizzerias in Zurich
Given the name of this blog I thought that a post on this topic was only long due. Especially after I realised that a lot of people trust my being in Italian to ask advice of where they can find the most authentic pizza in town.
Disclaimer: I am not as picky as other Italians can be when it comes to "authentic" Italian food. Also, I appreciate pizza that is not in typical Neapolitan style (thick, soft crust and thin center, very popular in Zurich). But during the years I tried many places and I can list here the ones I liked the most.
San Gennaro
Near the river Limmat, it has an open terrace during the summer and I love its location. Pizzas are typically Neapolitan, they don't offer a huge choice but there's always a "pizza of the season" with seasonal ingredients.
NA081
Two locations in Zurich city: Kreis 5 (near the main train station) and Seefeld. Great Neapolitan pizza, the menu includes other specialties like a great selection of Neapolitan antipasti, pizza fritta and specialties like pizza fritta. The staff is very friendly too!
Luigia
This restaurant has different locations across Switzerland, and even one in Dubai. In Zurich it's super centrally located, a few steps away from Bahnofstrasse. They also have an app to make reservations, sign up to the waiting list when restaurants are full, order and pay online. The selection of pizza is very broad, antipasti and desserts are also delicious.
Con Gusto
I visited both their locations in Schaffhauserplatz (half-way between Letten and Irchelpark) and Schmiede Wiedikon, and I had great food in both. Not only they have a great variety of pizza, but also an interesting choice of antipasti and primi piatti.
Napule'
There are different locations: 2 pizzerias are located in small towns along the Zurich lake (Meilen and Zollikon) while they only have take-away places in Zurich town. The pizza is really worth it, they even offer Pizza Portafoglio which is basically folded in 4 and therefore easier for a take-away. If you pass by Stadelhofen and feel like having a pizza while watching the sunset on the lake, Napule' is the perfect choice.
Arcade
I have only been there once a long time ago, but I remember the pizza was really great, very well cooked and with genuine ingredients. They also offer other Italian dishes (like every Italian menu: antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, dolci). I definitely need to go back soon to refresh my mind :)
Samigo
Yes, the famous club on the lake near Hafen Enge also serves pizza, and a good one! The outside terrace is lovely for summer evenings. I only have great memories linked to this place, it randomly became a yearly tradition of me and my boyfriend to go have dinner there at the beginning of every summer :)
Margheri'
I randomly discovered this place just after it opened about a year ago. We had tried to find a table in San Gennaro, but as it often happens, being a group of 4-5 without reservation makes it almost impossible. So we found this pizzeria at a walking distance, and we were surprisingly delighted!
Al Ventotto
This place is mainly a take-away, but during summer they have some tables outside on the street, and we randomly ended up eating there last summer before going to a live festival nearby. We enjoyed two very good pizzas, not in the typical Neapolitan style, but nonetheless worth it!
Alba Sourdough pizza
This place opened just recently in our neighbourhood and we immediately noted it as the next pizza to try. Pictures and reviews on Google only promise great things :)
